Outlook Express

This page will try to help walk you through the configuration of your Outlook Express e-mail client program.  Many versions of Outlook Express have approximately the same configuration options.  Some of the options may have a different appearance than the screenshots on this page, but the layout should be very similar and the instructions should work for all versions.

  1. Open Outlook Express and click Tools, then click Accounts.

  2. When the Internet Accounts window opens, ensure that you are on the Mail accounts tab.  Select your tcworks.net account by left clicking on it once and then click the Properties button to the right.  That should open up a Properties window for your tcworks.net account.

If you do not have anything that refers to your account with The Computer Works here press Add... then Mail... then, answer the questions that the wizard gives you.

  3. Now you should be at the General Tab.

Fill in the Name field with your name or nickname.  This is what people who recieve your e-mails will see as your name.

You can fill in, or leave the Organization field blank.

Put you e-mail address in the E-mail Address field.

Unless you are doing some advanced e-mail handling, you probably want to leave the Reply Address field blank.

Make sure that bottom box is checked!

  4. Click on the Servers Tab.

Where it says Incoming mail (POP3): enter pop.tcworks.net.

Where it says Outgoing mail (SMTP): enter smtp.tcworks.net.

Where it says Incoming Mail Server Section, Account name: type in your tcworks.net login/user name - NOT your entire e-mail address.

Where it says Password: type in the password for this username.

In the Outgoing Mail Server section, put a check in the "My Server requires authentication" check box.

Press OK, then the close button.

You should now be all set to go.  If you get any errors while checking e-mail, or you get an error when trying to send an e-mail, go back through this configuration to make sure there aren't any accidental typographical errors.

If you still have errors, please contact technical support via e-mail at support@tcworks.net or on the phone at 1 (888) 229-6585 (toll free) or 1 (501) 329-9144 (from Conway, AR) so that we can help you find the problem and get it corrected as quickly as possible.
